Last Train Home hits theatres across Canada
Canadian-Chinese director Lixin Fan's award-winning documentary Last Train Home has finally hit theatres across Canada, including the Ridge in Vancouver, the Varsity in Toronto and the Slivercity in Richmond Hill. In the coming weeks Last Train Home will screen at Calgary's Globe Cinema, the Princess Edmonton and also in other venues across British Columbia and Ontario.
Last Train Home is Fan's directorial debut and looks at the annual journey that millions of Chinese workers from the new industrial areas undertake to visit their families in the provinces during the annual Spring Festival. Last Train Home kicked off an impressive festival season starting in November 2009, winning the award for Best Canadian Film at the Rencontres International de Documentaire (RIDM) in Montreal last November followed by the Best Feature at the presitgious International Documentary Festival Amsterdal (IDFA). Last Train Home also took home Best Documentary at the Whistler Film Festival and Best Feature film at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, Montana in February.
