Katie McKenna

Katie McKenna has more than a decade of experience producing and directing non-fiction content for film, television, and the web.  Specializing in 2.0. tools and open distribution strategies, she’s produced web sites and campaigns from the corporate trenches of JumpTV to the non-profit frontlines of the NDP, FreePress, and the Documentary Organization of Canada.  Katie is also credited on over a dozen documentary productions, including co-producing The Take (2004) with Avi Lewis and Naomi Klein, and directing The Year Before for the NFB (2007).  In 2009, she completed her MSc with Distinction from the London School of Economics. Her thesis focused on how new information-exchange structures in global organizations can improve both efficiency and stakeholder accountability. Katie has worked as Web and Interactive Director for PTV Productions since 2009. Over the past year, Katie has led the production of Inside Disaster interactive, the HaitiFixers website, the PTV corporate website, and Star Portraits Online. Katie is a member of DOC's Executive Board.
