The Banff World Television Festival is joining forces with Canada’s major digital media conference, nextMEDIA for this year's joint festival. Also brand new this year - the Banff World Television Festival is presenting a Non-Fiction Program which will focus on the future of documentary and reality TV and interactive digital applications.
Speakers at the Banff Non-Fiction Program include Julie Bristow, Executive Director of Factual Entertainment, CBC Television and Glen Salzman, Chief Executive Officer, Cineflix. The Banff World Television Awards Gala takes place on Tuesday, June 15 from 7pm to 8:30 pm. Often referred to as the “Olympics of Television”, the Awards will celebrate the Best of Show in all Festival genres, as well as special jury prizes. Award categories are: Best Kids & Animation, Best Documentary, Best Drama, Best Entertainment and the coveted Grand Jury Prize. Specialized Grand Prizes will also be awarded for Best Green Program, Best Francophone Grand Prize, and Best Canadian Program.
The Interactive Awards takes place on Wednesday, June 16, and Awards will be presented in this special ceremony to both the category winners of the Banff World Television Awards Interactive categories and for the inaugural Banff International Pilots Competition, honouring the talent and creativity of international producers in conceptualizing and creating a television pilot.
The Banff Rockie Ceremony - Non-Fiction Awards takes place on Tuesday, June 15 from 6 pm to 7pm. Canadian productions up for awards are:
